I am a sucker for a good lake hike! There is nothing better than jumping into a freezing lake at the end of a hot hike in my opinion! But if you'd just there for the scenery, I get that too. Here are some of the best hikes in Salida that involve lakes!
Water Dog Lakes
The views from the lake at the end of this hike are nothing short of epic! My friend even got engaged here! A steep climb, this hike is a moderately challenging hike to the top through a beautiful forest.
Island Lake Trail
More spectacular scenery on this 2.9 mile out-and-back hike! You pass several smaller lakes on the way to island lake and hikers report wildlife viewings alone the trail. There is even an old mine to explore. Make sure to leave plenty of time to hang out at this gorgeous lake once you arrive!
Hancock Lake Trail
Another trail with multiple lakes along the way, the views on this hike will not disappoint! The hike is surrounded by epic mountain peaks and lots of greenery. The hike is about 8 miles out-and-back and considered moderately challenging.
